series, funded by the Bowmans and sponsored
by the Pineywoods Foundation, has resulted
in “War in East Texas,” by Bill O’Neal, the
story of the the Regulators-Moderators Feud;
“The Devil’s Triangle,” a story of violence
following the Civil War in East Texas, by
Jim Smallwood, Carol Taylor and Kenneth
Howell; adn "A Civil War Tragedy", by James
Wilkins with Bob and Doris Bowman.
Books in the series must deal with historic
events in the following counties: Angelina,
Cherokee, San Augustine, Nacogdoches,
Shelby, Sabine, Jasper, Newton, Polk, San
Jacinto, Trinity, Houston, Rusk, Tyler,
Panola and Walker.
